Responsibilities *Independently evaluate and treat pediatric patients presenting with non-emergent illnesses, minor injuries, infections, and other urgent concerns*Perform clinical procedures appropriate to training and scope, such as wound care, splinting, abscess drainage, foreign body removal, and rapid testing*Order and interpret diagnostics, including point-of-care labs and radiology, to guide clinical decisions*Prescribe medications, treatments, and referrals per Washington State guidelines for independent APPs*Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications, follow-up care, and warning signs*Document clinical encounters thoroughly and accurately in the electronic health record (EHR)*Lead care coordination, including appropriate disposition planning and referrals to primary care or specialists*Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, imaging staff, and front-desk personnel to support patient flow and care quality-without requiring supervisory oversight*Engage in peer collaboration, clinical meetings, and case discussions that enhance practice quality, safety, and teamwork.*Support institutional performance goals, including efforts related to population health, equity, quality measures, and safety protocols.*Participate in clinical meetings and improvement initiatives, contributing to efforts that enhance patient outcomes and experience.*Maintains license and appropriate continuing education. Working collaboratively with physicians and healthcare teams, the APP performs assessments, procedures, and treatment planning for a wide range of pediatric conditions-ensuring access to quality care beyond traditional primary care hours.
