Job Summary:
Telemetry (TELE) registered nurses are needed for night shifts at a healthcare facility in an acute care division. This position involves caring for adult patients with various cardiac conditions, utilizing telemetry monitors demonstrating Phillips brand technology. The role requires proficiency in reading and interpreting telemetry strips, along with basic nursing skills, medication titration, and EKG interpretation.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour nights, with shifts from 07:00 PM to 07:30 AM, minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid active Illinois nursing license, minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Preferred Qualifications: ACLS certification recommended.
  • Duties: Titrate cardiac drips mainly including medications such as Cardizem and heparin; troubleshoot Cpap and Bipap if it is part of the patient's home regimen; read and interpret telemetry strips; work in a unit with adult patients diagnosed with MI, CHF, A fib, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, and lung surgeries, including chest tubes and esophagectomy.
  • Staffing and Team: Charge nurse available 24/7, rarely takes patient assignments; house supervisor also present 24/7; nurse aides or patient care techs assist with patient ratios of 1:4-5 during nights, with PCTs caring for 1:10-12 patients depending on shift.
  • Additional Information: The unit accepts scrubs of any color, excluding children or cartoon prints; orientation typically involves one shift, depending on the nurses prior experience at an OSF facility; float to other general medical units may be required; no standby or call requirements at this time.
