Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU (SICU) position requiring 2+ years of current ICU experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• 13-week assignment in the Surgical ICU/Oncology unit
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:30 AM), with potential for D/N rotating schedule based on department needs
• Shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period, though changes are not guaranteed
• Adult patient population with diagnoses including hemorrhagic/hypovolemic shock, sepsis, septic shock, pneumonia, ARDS, craniotomy, ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, intracranial hypertension, and delirium
• Unit utilizes EVD management, ICP monitoring, Massive Transfusion Protocol, mechanical ventilation, heated high flow, BiPAP, CPAP, tracheostomy management, CRRT, and vasopressor titration

Requirements

• Active RN license (OH or Compact) required in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of current ICU experience required, with acute care experience in the applied specialty within the last 12 months
• Epic EMR experience required
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Skills required include IV therapy, arterial line management, central line and PICC line care, blood product administration, ventilator management, ABG interpretation, CRRT/CVVHD, continuous IV sedation, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and IV insulin protocols

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to surgical and oncology ICU patients, including management of complex respiratory, renal, neurological, and hemodynamic conditions
• First-time travelers considered if they meet the 2+ years experience requirement
• Locals accepted at the same rate
• Former employees eligible for travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees are ineligible to be hired as travelers at this health system
• 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager/director or formal leadership role; charge RN acceptable as second reference; no coworker references accepted
• RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Ohio fingerprinting process must be completed urgently upon contract signing; candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to a fingerprinting location, while those farther away will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet
