Description

American Traveler is hiring a Progressive Care RN with 2+ years of medical step-down experience for a Level 1 trauma center's IMCU, requiring ACLS/BLS certification and a GA or compact RN license.

Details

  • Medical step-down unit with 6-20 beds and a 1:4 patient ratio
  • Patient population includes sepsis, heart failure, hypertensive emergency, respiratory failure, COPD, chronic kidney disease, type 2 diabetes, substance abuse, status epilepticus, and encephalopathy
  • Day shift schedule, 12-hour shifts, 4 shifts per week
  • Possible float to other IMCU units, most commonly 5J and 12A
  • Travelers expected to work 4 weekend shifts per month
  • No on-call requirements

Requirements

  • Active RN license (GA or Compact) currently in hand
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of medical step-down/progressive care experience required
  • High-acuity, high-volume trauma hospital experience required
  • Candidates with experience limited to small or low-volume hospitals will not be considered

Additional Information

  • Work in a high-acuity, inner-city Level 1 trauma center managing complex and challenging cases
  • Ideal candidates will demonstrate proven success in high-pressure, large-scale trauma environments and managing critical, fast-paced situations
  • Block scheduling is generally not approved for this unit
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travel rate
