Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring 1 year of experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting within a hospital
• Adult and geriatric patient population
• Common cases include burns, plastic/reconstructive surgery, urology, GYN, ENT, and oral/maxillofacial surgeries
• Special procedures include burn dressings, flap checks, and leech therapy
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:30 AM), 36 hours per week
• Every other/third weekend required
• Floating required within OSU system

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Skills include IV therapy/phlebotomy, arterial line management, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, blood product administration, feeding tube care, heparin protocols, PCA management, cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management, telemetry monitoring, wound care/wound vac, IV insulin protocols, oxygen administration, and surgical drain management
• 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager/director or formal leadership role; charge RN acceptable for second reference; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for adult and geriatric PCU patients, including specialized surgical and burn care
• Utilize rapid response/code teams as needed for cardiac and respiratory emergencies
• Fingerprinting is required immediately upon contract signing due to Ohio state requirements
• First-time travelers accepted
• Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6 months away from the facility
• Current employees are ineligible for travel positions at this health system
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• RTO must be submitted with application and built into contract, limited to 7 days or less
