Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift role requiring OH or compact RN licensure and telemetry experience.

Details

  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting within a teaching hospital
  • Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts (19:00-7:30), 36 hours/week
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating required within the OSU hospital system
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Patient population includes tele monitored, MS/Tele, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown cases

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Must be able to pass a telemetry competency test
  • Experience monitoring telemetry patients required
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Skills include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, blood product administration, cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management, telemetry monitoring (unit and remote), rapid response/code team participation, isolation precautions/PPE, wound care, IV insulin protocols, non-invasive airway management, and oxygen administration
  • 2 professional references required, at least one from a manager/director or supervisor; charge RN acceptable for second reference; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide direct nursing care to progressive care and telemetry patients, including monitoring, medication administration, and emergency response
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates with only 1 year of experience are subject to manager review rather than automatic offer
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
  • Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6 months away from the facility
  • Current employees are ineligible for travel assignments at any Ohio State University hospital location
  • RTO must be submitted with application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • Ohio fingerprinting process must be completed urgently upon contract signing; candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to a fingerprinting location, while those farther away will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet
