Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a PCU Float position requiring OH or compact RN license, telemetry experience, and EPIC proficiency.

Details

  • Float pool position in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU), covering step-down/telemetry level care
  • May be required to float to another OSU-affiliated hospital within a short walking distance
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 36 hours/week
  • Weekend shifts may be required
  • Requires EPIC EMR experience
  • Requires IV start and telemetry skills

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 1 year of PCU/step-down/telemetry nursing experience required
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
  • Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, arterial line management, central and peripheral line care, and blood product administration
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and use of rapid response/code teams
  • Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration required)
  • Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy care
  • 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager/director or supervisor and no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide nursing care to a cardiac telemetry and step-down/PCU patient population
  • Perform wound care, isolation precautions/PPE, and pre/post neurosurgery care as needed
  • Manage IV insulin protocols and pre/post hemodialysis care for renal patients
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements urgently upon signing the contract, including travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location if within driving distance
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Former employees are eligible to apply for a travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible for this traveler role
  • RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate
