American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a teaching hospital, requiring prior travel experience and an active OH or compact RN license

Details

  • Stepdown/Progressive Care Unit (PCU) mixed-acuity unit caring for adult and geriatric patients with chronic medical conditions
  • Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00am-7:30pm), 36 hours per week
  • Some weekend shifts required
  • Floating required within the OSU organization
  • Call required
  • Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of submission
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of med/surg or PCU experience preferred
  • Previous travel nurse experience required; first-time travelers not accepted for this role
  • Teaching hospital experience required
  • Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Proficiency with IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, and blood product administration
  • Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube, and tracheostomy management
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and telemetry
  • Wound care and isolation precaution/PPE skills required
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director or supervisor; charge RN acceptable as second reference; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide progressive care nursing to adult and geriatric patients with general chronic medical conditions in a mixed-acuity environment
  • Must complete Ohio fingerprinting process urgently upon signing contract due to strict state requirements
  • Candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location as soon as possible after booking
  • Candidates at extreme distances will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet to complete urgently
  • Requested time off must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
  • Former employees eligible for assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are not eligible for this traveler position
  • First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
