Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a blended Med-Surg/PCU position requiring OH or compact license and 1 year of relevant experience.

Details

  • Blended Med-Surg and PCU unit setting
  • Standard Med-Surg assignments typically 4:1, PCU assignments typically 3:1, with travelers generally the first to be flexed up to 5:1 Med-Surg ratios
  • Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00-19:30), 36 hours/week
  • Floating required within OSU

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • BLS and ACLS certification required
  • Minimum 1 year of recent relevant experience required
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Must be comfortable with CPAP/BiPAP management and med titrations
  • Charge-capable on nights required
  • Experience with chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac), high flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy care, and non-invasive airway management
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
  • Experience with heparin protocols, PCA, and titrating cardiac drips
  • Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac
  • Experience with telemetry, IV therapy/phlebotomy, and peripheral line care
  • 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager/director or supervisor and the second from a charge RN (no coworker references accepted)

Additional Information

  • Provide respiratory, cardiac, and GI nursing care within a stepdown/telemetry setting
  • Previous charge experience preferred
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Locals accepted at the same rate
  • Former employees eligible for a travel assignment once away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees of Ohio State University hospital locations are ineligible for travel assignments
  • RTO required at time of consideration and must be built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
