Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Step Down/PCU position requiring 1 year of telemetry experience and a valid Ohio or compact RN license.

Details

• Step Down/Progressive Care Unit within a hospital setting
• Patients include active oncology diagnoses (solid tumor and hematology), as well as patients admitted for surgical procedures, COPD, sepsis, abnormal labs, pneumonia, and other conditions with or without an oncology history
• Unit is a locked corrections unit housing ODRC inmates, requiring Corrections Officer access to enter
• Rotating Day/Night schedule (3x12 hours), 36 hours per week, with the same shift assigned for 4 consecutive weeks before rotating
• Float required within OSU system
• Every other weekend required (Friday & Saturday)
• Epic charting system preferred

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Previous telemetry experience required
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and insulin drips required
• Strong cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation and management skills required
• Skilled in isolation precautions/PPE, oxygen administration, nasal cannula use, IV therapy/phlebotomy, and peripheral line care and management
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Two professional references required, with at least one from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role; Charge RN acceptable as second reference; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

• Provide telemetry-level nursing care including cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Former employees eligible for travel assignment only after 6 months away from the facility
• Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible for travel assignment
• RTO must be submitted with application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract due to strict compliance timelines
