Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring BLS, ACLS, and at least 1 year of PCU experience.

Details

  • Blended Med-Surg and PCU unit setting
  • Standard Med-Surg assignments typically 4:1; PCU assignments typically 3:1
  • Unionized nursing staff; travelers are generally first to be flexed, which may occasionally result in a 5:1 Med-Surg assignment based on unit needs
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:30), 36 hours per week
  • Float required within OSU facilities

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience required
  • Charge RN experience preferred
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Must be comfortable managing CPAP/BiPAP, performing medication titrations, and functioning in a charge-capable role on nights
  • Proficiency required in respiratory care including chest tubes, HFNC, nasal cannula, tracheostomy care, and oxygen administration
  • Experience with feeding tube care, cardiac drip titration, heparin protocols, and PCA management
  • Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and use of rapid response/code teams
  • Experience with isolation precautions/PPE, wound care/wound vac, telemetry, IV therapy/phlebotomy, and peripheral line care
  • 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager/director or formal leadership role; charge RN acceptable for second reference; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide nursing care across a blended Med-Surg and PCU patient population
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • Former employees eligible for a travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at any Ohio State University hospital location
  • RTO must be requested and built into the contract at time of consideration, limited to 7 days or less
