Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a PCU Float position requiring 2 years of experience, telemetry skills, and Epic proficiency.

Details

  • PCU Float Pool position within a hospital setting
  • May be required to float to another affiliated hospital located approximately a 5-6 minute walk away with no commute required
  • May be required to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity level
  • Patient ratios of approximately 1:3-4
  • Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Uses Epic EMR system

Requirements

  • Active RN license (Standard or Compact) for Ohio required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, with at least 1 year of solid step-down/PCU experience
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • IV start/therapy and telemetry skills required
  • Skills in arterial line management, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
  • Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care, high flow nasal cannula, and ABG interpretation
  • Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Experience with wound care, IV insulin protocols, and pre/post hemodialysis management
  • Nursing education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program required
  • 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager, director, or supervisor and the second acceptable from a Charge RN (no coworker references accepted)

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive PCU-level nursing care including telemetry monitoring, IV therapy, and management of cardiac and vasoactive drips without titration
  • Utilize rapid response and code teams as needed for emergency situations
  • Care for patients requiring isolation precautions, wound care, and feeding tube management
  • Previous charge nurse experience is preferred but not required
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers
  • Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees of Ohio State University hospital locations are ineligible to be hired as travelers at any OSU facility
  • RTO must be requested and built into the contract prior to submission, limited to 7 days or less
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements urgently upon signing the contract, either by visiting an in-state location or completing a mailed fingerprinting packet if located at a significant distance
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply as travel experience is not required
