Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiac Telemetry

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Cardiac Telemetry to join our dedicated team. This role requires a minimum of 2 years of experience on a cardiac floor and proficiency in various cardiac care procedures.

Job Details

  • Patient Ratios: Varies per acuity; 1:4 for surgical step down and 1:5-6 for lower acuity.
  • Shift: Night shifts only, 36 hours per week.
  • Contract Length: 13-26 weeks accepted.
  • Weekend Requirement: 4 weekends in a 4-week period (flexible).
  • Float Requirement: Will follow unit rotation; not first to float.

Role Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients with cardiac-related diagnoses.
  • Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry readings and manage dysrhythmias.
  • Administer medications and manage cardiac drips, including titration as needed.
  • Perform sheath removals and assist with post-MI care and pre/post cardiac catheterization.
  • Provide assistance with airway management, including CPAP/BIPAP and nasal cannula usage.
  • Participate in special procedures and assist in recovery for cardiac and thoracic surgeries.

Required Skills and Certifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience on a cardiac floor.
  • Traveler experience preferred unless possessing over 24 months of cardiac experience.
  • Skills in Cardiac Telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, sheath removal, and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias.
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required.

Preferred Skills and Certifications

  • Experience with arterial line management and wound care, including wound vacs.
  • Charge experience is a plus.

Special Procedures and Unit Details

  • Common patient diagnoses: Atrial Fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, and various valve disorders.
  • Unit focuses on CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, and other vascular surgeries.

Special Equipment

  • Utilize various medical equipment including EKG monitors, Dopplers, and chest tubes.

Unit Systems

  • Familiarity with Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR communication systems is preferred.

Orientation and Attire

  • Orientation period is 24 hours.
  • Required scrub color: Navy.
