Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Cardiovascular Progressive Care – Western North Carolina

Start Date: September 3, 2026

Location: Asheville, North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Full-time rotating shifts (day and night available); 1:5 patient ratio; minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule; holiday flexibility required

Highlights:

  • 40-bed cardiovascular progressive care unit specializing in cardiac surgery and vascular surgery stepdown care
  • Diverse patient population including post-operative open heart surgery (CABG, valve replacements, TAVR), thoracic procedures, vascular interventions, and medical cardiology overflow
  • Advanced procedural experience with epidural management, chest tubes, cardiac drips, and IV glucommander protocols
  • Cerner EMR system with state-of-the-art equipment including Baxter IV pumps and CADD epidural pumps
  • Collaborative team environment with approximately 100 nursing staff members and dedicated charge nurses on all shifts
  • Opportunity to work in a specialized cardiovascular tower dedicated to cardiac care excellence

Requirements:

  • Active RN license in North Carolina or compact state eligibility
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications (required)
  • Minimum of 1 year recent stepdown experience (required)
  • Telemetry monitoring experience (required)
  • Cardiovascular surgery and vascular surgery patient population experience within the past year (strongly preferred)
  • CVICU experience (preferred)
  • Proficiency in cardiac drip management including vasoactive medications, insulin, heparin, and antiarrhythmic agents
  • Willingness to float to other stepdown, medical-surgical, or ER inpatient holding areas as needed
