Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years required License: Current nursing license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS required; NIHSS preferred Must-Have: IV start, ventilator management, telemetry monitoring, and interpretation and management of dysrhythmias Description: RTO after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on the unit could possibly lead to cancelation. Minimum of 2 years of experience is required. First-time travelers are accepted. Locals are welcome, but rate differences may apply. Skills required include IV starts, ventilators, telemetry, and CPAP/BiPAP management. Supervised by a team lead, the unit operates at a higher acuity level for med-surg and has a mix of PCU and med-surg patients. The unit has a 1:4-5 target patient ratio, with a maximum of 1:6 in extreme situations. Various resources are available on the unit, including an admission/discharge nurse, assistant nurse manager, vascular access team, rapid response team, and code team. Patient population includes COPD, pneumonia, respiratory distress, and complications from COVID-19 and flu. The unit has a total of 48 beds. Staff allocation includes a CNA ratio of 9-10:1. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend. Effective management of chest tubes, cardiac drips, and isolation precautions is necessary. Floating to similar units may be required. All nurses must comply with the call-off policy, which is strictly enforced. A teamwork approach and adherence to behavioral expectations are essential during all interactions with patients and team members.
