Registered Nurse (RN) - PCU

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) for a position in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU). The role requires strong clinical experience, particularly in managing patients with complex medical needs, and operates in a high-acuity environment similar to an ICU.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor patient care in a PCU setting.
  • Administer and titrate vasoactive drips, including Cardizem, Nitro, Precedex, Cardene, Levophed, Dopamine, and Dobutamine.
  • Observe and interpret telemetry rhythms, addressing dysrhythmias as needed.
  • Provide care for patients with arterial lines, central and peripheral lines, PICC lines, and administer blood products as required.
  • Utilize rapid response protocols and IV insulin protocols effectively.
  • Perform management of high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), BIPAP, and other non-invasive airway support methods.
  • Ensure isolation precautions are followed where necessary.
  • Participate actively in unit-based responsibilities, including floating to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required.
  • Experience with arterial lines and titrating vasoactive drips is essential.
  • ACLS, BCLS, and NIH certifications required.
  • Strong background in telemetry and management of dysrhythmias.
  • Capable of handling patients across the lifespan, including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.

Shift and Scheduling

  • Full-time position available, with 12-hour night shifts.
  • Schedule may include requirements for weekend work every other week.
  • No block scheduling; schedules are created by nursing management.
  • Maximum request for time off (RTO) is 7 days for Aya Auto Offer.

Additional Information

  • Patients may present with respiratory distress, unstable hemodynamics, withdrawal symptoms, GI bleeds, and complications from surgery.
  • Unit serves 18 patients with a target ratio of 1:3-4.
  • All nurses must demonstrate competency in EKG interpretation prior to starting.
  • Must be available for a comprehensive orientation during the first week.
