Registered Nurse (RN) - PCU

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) with strong experience in patient care to join our team in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU). The ideal candidate will have a background in an ICU-like environment and be adept in critical patient management.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage patient care in a PCU setting, focusing on post rapid response team patients.
• Administer and monitor arterial lines and vasoactive drips.
• Provide telemetry monitoring and interpret dysrhythmias.
• Implement rapid response and IV insulin protocols.
• Administer blood products and manage central and peripheral line care.
• Handle chest tubes, external CPAP/BIPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) management.
• Ensure compliance with isolation precautions and other safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a PCU, DOU, IMC, stepdown, or similar setting.
• Experience with arterial lines, titrating vasoactive drips, and telemetry.
• Competence in management and interpretation of dysrhythmias.
• Proficient in conscious sedation, EKG interpretation, blood product administration, and central line management.
• Required certifications: ACLS, BCLS, and NIH Stroke certification.

Work Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15).
• 36 or 48 hours of work per week available.
• Every other weekend is required.
• Must be available for hospital orientation and training in the first week of employment.

Additional Information

• Target patient-to-nurse ratios are 1:3-4.
• Floating to sister units as needed, including an ICCU.
• Only one pressor drip per patient; additional support required transfers to ICU.
• Specialized equipment includes bedside telemetry monitors with remote backup.
