Contract | Days | Full-Time | Onsite | Shift: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM | Every other weekend required | Holidays rotate with staff
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 29-bed inpatient oncology unit, managing acute oncology symptoms and conditions including thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, hematology, and end-of-life care
- Maintain patient ratios of 1:5, with occasional 1:6 assignments, supported by nurse aides
- Monitor patients via central telemetry system; reading strips is not required
- Receive and complete care for outpatient oncology patients transferred to the floor when the outpatient area closes
- Document and manage patient care using Meditech EMR
- Float to medical acute unit on a rare basis as needed
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
- Minimum 1 year of oncology nursing experience
- At least 1 prior travel nursing assignment
- Current BLS certification
- Candidates must reside within 75 miles of the facility (based on driver's license address); must provide this information at time of submission
Preferred Experience / Skills
- NIHSS certification preferred
- ONS (Oncology Nursing Society) chemotherapy certification preferred; candidates wishing to administer chemotherapy must have a minimum of 2 years of oncology experience
- Familiarity with Meditech EMR
