Contract | Night Shift (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Onsite | Every other weekend required | Holidays rotate with staff
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct inpatient nursing care on a 29-bed oncology unit, managing a patient ratio of 1:5 (occasionally 1:6)
- Care for patients presenting with acute oncology symptoms including thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, hematology conditions, and end-of-life care
- Utilize central telemetry monitoring; ability to read strips is not required
- Document and manage patient care using Meditech EMR
- Occasionally receive outpatient oncology patients transferred to the floor to complete treatment when the outpatient area closes
- Float rarely to medical acute unit as needed
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in good standing
- Minimum 1 year of oncology nursing experience
- At least 1 prior travel nursing assignment required; first-time travelers will not be considered
- BLS certification required
- Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible; proof (driver's license) must be provided at time of submission
Preferred Experience / Skills
- NIHSS certification preferred
- ONS (Oncology Nursing Society) chemotherapy certification preferred; candidates wishing to administer chemotherapy must have a minimum of 2 years of oncology experience
- Familiarity with Meditech EMR
- Experience with hematology and end-of-life care patient populations
