Job Summary
Medical Surgical Oncology Nurse in Fargo is a critical member of the healthcare team providing specialized care for hematology and oncology patients. The role involves managing complex medical conditions, administering treatments such as blood products and antibiotics, and performing comprehensive assessments. The assigned schedule includes twelve-hour rotating shifts, with every other weekend and holiday coverage, in a fast-paced, trauma-level 1 setting.
Job Details
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts with every other weekend and holiday, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: 2 years recent nursing experience in a large hospital setting, preferably in inpatient hematology/oncology, with experience in bone marrow transplant and EPIC electronic medical record system; active BLS certification from the American Heart Association; ND or Compact RN license or willingness to obtain; must be willing to float to other med-surg units within Fargo as needed; must have current certification in BLS; minimum of 1 year of relevant nursing experience; must have medical surgical nursing experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a busy level 1 trauma center, prior oncology nursing background, travel experience highly preferred.
- Additional Information: The unit has 6 inpatient oncology beds on one floor and 7 on another, with upcoming bed expansion; nurses care for medically complex hematology and oncology patients, including those receiving chemotherapy and BMT. Training includes 8 hours of classroom instruction plus 24-36 hours of unit-specific training. Nurses are required to badge in and out at the facility and wear navy blue scrubs.
