Travel Nurse RN - Neuro ICU in Charlotte, NC

Key Responsibilities Provide direct patient care in a Neuro Intensive Care Unit serving a comprehensive stroke center population, including ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, craniotomies, aneurysm coiling/clipping, seizures, and other complex neurological diagnoses. Manage and monitor intracranial pressure (ICP) devices, external ventricular drains (EVD), lumbar drains, and other specialized neuro monitoring equipment including Camino, LICOX, NICOM, and Arctic Sun.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a Neuro Intensive Care Unit serving a comprehensive stroke center population, including ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, craniotomies, aneurysm coiling/clipping, seizures, and other complex neurological diagnoses
• Manage and monitor intracranial pressure (ICP) devices, external ventricular drains (EVD), lumbar drains, and other specialized neuro monitoring equipment including Camino, LICOX, NICOM, and Arctic Sun
• Administer and manage continuous IV sedation, blood products, and vasoactive medications in a critical care setting
• Assess, interpret, and manage cardiac dysrhythmias and hemodynamic changes in critically ill neurological patients
• Maintain ventilated patient care, central line care and management, and arterial line monitoring
• Float within or near the facility as needed per unit requirements, and work every other weekend

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of Neuro ICU experience required; general ICU experience alone will not be considered
• Strong neurological critical care background with experience managing stroke patients (ischemic, hemorrhagic), post-neurosurgery patients, and EVD/lumbar drain patients
• Proficiency with ventilator management, IV starts, central line care, ICP monitoring, and CVA/acute stroke management
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required
• Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license
• Must pass EKG competency testing prior to start

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with arterial line management
• Familiarity with unit systems including Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR communication framework
• Prior travel nursing experience in a Neuro ICU setting
