Registered Nurse – NICU-Based Float Pool

Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 8:00 AM) | Expected schedule: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday | Every other weekend requirement | Expected 37.5 hours/week
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a Level III NICU setting with floating responsibilities to PICU, Pediatrics, and Newborn Nursery as required
- Manage IV therapy including A-line management, Central Line/Implanted Line Care, UAC/UVC, IV vasopressors, steroids, and surfactants
- Perform cardiac and respiratory monitoring including dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)
- Provide GI and neurological care including bottle, breast, and gavage feedings; placement and management of oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tubes; and care for patients with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome
- Document patient care accurately using EPIC electronic health records
- Provide on-call or working coverage for 1–2 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and/or New Year's) as determined by unit needs
Required Qualifications
- Active New Jersey RN license or Compact license required at time of submission
- Required certifications: BLS, NRP, and PALS
- Minimum 1.5 years of experience with documented NICU Level III and PICU experience in employment history
- Proficiency in EPIC electronic health records
- Willingness and ability to float to PICU, Pediatrics, and Newborn Nursery — floating is required without exception
- Local candidates are welcome and accepted
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience caring for premature and critically ill neonates in a high-volume regional perinatal center environment
- Familiarity with pediatric critical care including full-spectrum medical and surgical patient populations
- Prior travel nursing experience, including first-time travelers, is considered
