Travel Pediatric Registered Nurse (RN) – NICU/PICU Float Pool in Livingston, NJ
Join a 13-week travel nursing assignment as a Pediatric Registered Nurse supporting a high-acuity NICU-based float pool in Livingston, New Jersey. This on-site opportunity allows you to care for critically ill neonates and pediatric patients while expanding your experience across a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), pediatric unit, and newborn nursery. Livingston offers a welcoming suburban environment with convenient access to the greater New York City metropolitan area, local parks, dining, and community amenities.
Travel Nursing Job Details

- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,470–$2,600

- Assignment Duration: 13 weeks, ending January 25, 2027
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m.
- Shifts per Week: 3
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Float Expectation: NICU, PICU, pediatric, and newborn nursery assignments based on clinical skill set
- Electronic Medical Record: Epic
- Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:2, based on acuity, census, and staffing
Pediatric Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active New Jersey Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact RN license
- At least 1.5 years of recent pediatric, neonatal, or critical care nursing experience
- Documented Level III NICU and PICU experience
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications
- Recent Epic charting experience
- Experience caring for neonates, including premature and critically ill newborns
- Proficiency with ventilator management, including AC, PC, SIMV, CPAP, BiPAP, and PEEP
- Experience managing arterial lines, central or implanted lines, UACs, UVCs, and IV vasopressors
- At least one supervisory reference available during the application process
- Ability to float between designated units and accept patient assignments appropriate to clinical competencies
Travel Pediatric RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to neonates and pediatric patients in high-acuity healthcare settings
- Monitor and manage patients requiring respiratory support, including mechanical ventilation and noninvasive ventilation
- Administer and manage IV medications, vasopressors, steroids, and surfactants according to clinical protocols
- Perform arterial line, central line, UAC, and UVC care and monitoring
- Interpret and respond to dysrhythmias and changes in cardiopulmonary status
- Support neonatal feeding plans, including bottle, breast, and gavage feedings
- Place and manage oral, nasogastric, and nasojejunal tubes
- Provide care for patients experiencing Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome
- Collaborate with pediatric critical care providers, specialists, and the interdisciplinary care team
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress accurately in Epic
- Maintain safe, evidence-based care practices while floating between NICU, PICU, pediatric, and newborn nursery units
