Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Rotating Days and Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts | Day: 07:00–19:30 / Night: 19:00–07:30 | Every other weekend rotation and holidays as needed
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on an adult medical/surgical telemetry unit serving a variety of conditions and diagnoses under a Family Medicine service, including a geriatric population
- Care for patients within a secured unit that may include Department of Corrections patients; staff are always accompanied by a corrections officer when assisting these patients
- Perform telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation in accordance with unit protocols
- Start and maintain intravenous (IV) lines as required for patient care
- Float to other units as needed based on staffing requirements
- Pass a Telemetry exam prior to start, meeting strict criteria including 100% identification of lethal rhythms and a minimum passing score of 80%
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- BLS certification required – American Heart Association (AHA) only
- Minimum of 2 years of acute care inpatient RN experience within the last 3 years in Medical Surgical / Telemetry
- Demonstrated experience starting IVs required
- EPIC electronic health record experience required
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience working with geriatric patient populations
- Familiarity with cardiac rhythm interpretation and telemetry monitoring
- Experience in a high-acuity or complex inpatient environment
