    Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry

    Madison, WI | Inpatient Acute Care

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract | Rotating Day/Night Shifts | 3x12-Hour Shifts | 0700–1930 / 1900–0730 | Every Other Weekend Rotation | Holidays as Needed

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit serving an adult and geriatric population with a variety of conditions and diagnoses under a Family Medicine service
    • Care for Department of Corrections patients within a secured, locked wing accompanied by a corrections officer at all times
    • Perform IV insertions and manage telemetry monitoring for assigned patients
    • Float to other units as needed based on staffing and census requirements
    • Document patient care accurately and efficiently using EPIC electronic health records
    • Adhere to rotating day/night scheduling guidelines, including a minimum of 36 hours off between the end of a night shift and the start of a day shift for patient care
    Required Qualifications
    • Active RN License required
    • BLS Certification required – American Heart Association (AHA) only
    • Minimum 2 years of acute care inpatient RN experience within the last 3 years in Medical Surgical/Telemetry
    • Demonstrated experience starting IVs required
    • EPIC electronic health records experience required
    • Must pass a Telemetry exam prior to start (adult and pediatric components; passing score of 80% or higher; strict criteria apply for identification of lethal rhythms and heart blocks; maximum of three attempts allowed)
    • Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not accepted
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Experience working with geriatric patient populations
    • Familiarity with correctional healthcare or secured patient care environments
    • Strong cardiac rhythm interpretation skills
