Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

We are seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) for a fast-paced orthopedic and neuro spine unit. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in orthopedic care and experience working with patients undergoing various surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care for orthopedic, neuro spine, med-surg, and post-surgical patients.
• Monitor patient telemetry and manage IV therapy.
• Assess patient needs and develop effective pain management plans.
• Facilitate patient care in a collaborative environment.
• Participate in floating to other medical-surgical units as necessary to meet staffing requirements.

Position Details

• Shift: 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15.
• Expected nurse-to-patient ratio: 5-6:1, with flex up to 7:1 in extreme cases.
• Scheduling options available, including block scheduling for weekends and alternative days.
• Weekend commitment: Every other weekend required; make-up time may be necessary for call-offs.
• Maximum allowable RTO (requested time off): 7 days.
• No holiday RTO will be approved.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in orthopedic nursing.
• EPIC experience accepted for first-time travelers.
• Required certifications: BCLS, NIH.
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• ACLS certification.
• Charge Nurse experience.
• Experience in a Level I Trauma setting.

Patient Population

The average daily census is 37 patients, with a total of 39 rooms and beds. All patients are managed across the unit, regardless of COVID status, as they are no longer cohorted.
