Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team. This position involves providing care to a diverse patient population, including those from the Department of Corrections, in an adult medical/surgical setting. Our unit caters to a variety of conditions and diagnoses, with an emphasis on the geriatric population.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients during 12-hour shifts.
• Assist in caring for Department of Corrections patients, ensuring safety and compliance with protocols.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care.
• Conduct assessments, initiate IVs, and administer medications as required.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation using EPIC software.

Scheduling

Shifts include both night and day options on a rotating basis, with every other weekend and holidays as needed. D/N rotators will not be scheduled to flip between shifts more than twice in a six-week period, unless an exception is made at the employee's request. A minimum of 36 hours off will be scheduled between the end of a night shift and the beginning of a day shift if the day shift is for patient care.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Experience in starting IVs is required.
• Valid RN license is mandatory.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (AHA only).
• Experience with EPIC is necessary.
• Candidate must pass a telemetry test prior to starting the position.

Work Environment

This nursing role involves direct patient care in a locked unit for Department of Corrections patients, requiring staff to be accompanied by a DOC officer while providing assistance. The nursing team must be adept at managing a range of medical conditions in a secure and controlled environment.
