Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Description

The Float Pool RN is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care and ensuring patient safety across multiple medical/surgical telemetry units. This role requires a flexible and adaptable professional who is willing to float between various departments as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform cardiac monitoring and manage cardiac drips effectively.
• Accurately read and interpret telemetry strips every four hours.
• Provide care for patients in emergency department overflow and acute mental health settings.
• Balance a clinician-to-patient ratio of up to 5:1 during days/evenings and up to 6:1 at night.

Qualifications

• Active Massachusetts RN License.
• AHA BLS certification.
• ACLS certification preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of acute care hospital experience.
• 2 years working as a Traveler highly preferred.

Unit Information

The Float Pool RN will rotate between eight different units within the facility, which include:

• Davenport 5
• Davenport 7
• Davenport 8
• Davenport 9
• Emergency Department (ED)
• PH 6/7
• Pingree 4
• Overflow Unit

Additional Information

This position will require working various shifts, including days, evenings, and nights, with rotation every other weekend. The Electronic Medical Record system in use is EPIC.

Work Environment

The facility has a total bed count of 371, with unit sizes ranging from 8 to 41 beds.
