License: Active nursing license required.
Certifications: BLS, NIHSS, ACLS, CPI preferred.
Must-Have: Previous charge experience preferred.
Description:
Registered Nurse for a PCU unit.
Patient to nurse ratio is 1:5.
Prior charge experience is preferred, but first-timers are accepted.
Holiday shifts and charge RN assignments may be needed.
Weekends: A total of 8 weekend shifts are required in a 6-week schedule period.
Regular floating may be required within scope to meet facility needs.
Skills required include:
Telemetry monitoring, interpretation of dysrhythmias, management of dysrhythmias, and use of rapid response teams.
Experience with post-cardiac angiogram and post-myocardial infarction care is necessary.
Gastrointestinal skills include feeding tube care and management.
Genitourinary/renal skills required for pre/post-hemodialysis management and renal failure care.
IV therapy and phlebotomy skills including blood product administration and central line management are necessary.
Ability to manage cardiac drips and vasoactive drips without titration is required.
Experience with PCA management is necessary.
Neurological skills for cerebrovascular accident management included.
Experience with chest tube care and tracheostomy management is required.
Knowledge of wound care and isolation precautions is necessary.
Special requirements include care for patients with conditions such as AMI, cardiac arrhythmia, heart failure, chest pain, and more.
Experience in managing intermediate levels of care and sepsis patients is necessary.
Proficient use of telemetry equipment is required.
Interdisciplinary support teams will be available including IV teams, respiratory services, and pharmacy.
The position requires flexibility to float between departments, units, and facilities as needed.
