Registered Nurse (RN) - Med/Surg/Telemetry

We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses with a strong background in Med/Surg and Telemetry to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidates will be well-versed in neuro patient care and have experience managing complex patient needs.

Job Details

• Patient Ratios: 1:6
• Contract Length: 13-26 weeks
• Scheduling Options: 36 or 48 hours per week
• Shift: 12-Hour Nights
• Weekend Requirements: Required to work every other weekend
• Floating: Required to float to other Med/Surg/Telemetry areas, including potential COVID care units

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients, primarily focusing on those with stroke and neurological conditions.
• Utilize telemetry to monitor and interpret dysrhythmias.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to deliver high-quality patient care.
• Participate in orientation and training for specific unit procedures.
• Make up any missed weekend shifts per unit needs.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience with at least 1 year of direct Med/Surg experience.
• Must have completed at least 2 successful travel contracts.
• Certifications: BCLS, NIH, NIHSS; ACLS preferred but not required.
• Skills: IV Start, Telemetry, and management of dysrhythmias; Med/Surg neuro experience is essential.

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS Certification

Unit Information

• Daily census of 42 patients; 43 rooms/beds available.
• Specialized training available for staff in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU).
• Unit systems in use include PYXIS and EPIC.

Orientation

• 36 hours of unit orientation will be provided.

Additional Notes

• EKG testing is mandatory prior to starting in this specialty.
• Block scheduling may not always be guaranteed.
• Regular floating may be required based on patient care needs.
