Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15), 36 hours per week, every other weekend required. Contract length: 13 weeks or longer.
Highlights:
- Dynamic 30-bed gastrointestinal and medical-surgical unit with 10 telemetry beds for cardiac monitoring
- Diverse patient population including GI conditions, blood loss/anemia, infections, renal patients, and post-surgical GI patients
- Target nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6 (occasionally 1:7 based on staffing needs)
- Fast-paced environment with high patient turnover (approximately one-third of beds daily)
- Epic charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
- 36-hour orientation with ongoing professional development opportunities
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience required
- Two successfully completed travel assignments required (first-time travelers cannot be accommodated)
- Current RN license (North Carolina or Compact state)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required
- Telemetry experience strongly preferred
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
- IV start proficiency required
- Experience with Epic charting system preferred
- Willingness to float to other medical-surgical units as needed
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
