Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Surgical - Neuro

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse with experience in Medical Surgical and Neuro to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care primarily for stroke and neurosurgery patients while supervising other conditions such as epilepsy and hematomas.

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience with at least 1 year of direct Medical Surgical experience.
• Previous travel nursing experience, including at least 2 successful contracts.
• Required skills include IV start, telemetry, and the interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
• Experience with Medical/Surgical neuro patients is essential.
• Certifications required: BCLS, NIH, NIHSS. ACLS is preferred but not mandatory.

Job Details

• Patient Ratios: 1:6.
• Contract duration: 13 to 26 weeks.
• Shift: 12-hour shifts during the night (18:45 - 07:15).
• Floating to other Medical/Surgical/Telemetry areas may be required, including COVID care units.
• Travelers must work every other weekend and are required to make up shifts that they call out from, within the same week or at the end of their contract.
• Unit Orientation: 36 hours.

Patient Diagnoses

The focus is primarily on stroke patients, with care also extending to patients with neurosurgery needs and other neurological diagnoses.

Unit Details

• Dedicated Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) with training provided for nurses.
• Daily census of approximately 42 patients with a total of 43 rooms/beds.

Work Environment

• Unit systems include PYXIS, EPIC, and SBAR.
• Scrubs required: Navy.

Additional Information

All travelers must pass EKG testing prior to start. Block scheduling may not be guaranteed, and must-have Medical/Surgical experience is essential for success in this role.
