Job Title: Float Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: MS/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours (07:00 - 19:30) Experience: Charge experience required, US experience required License: Valid state nursing license Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Charge nurse experience Experience with cardiac telemetry and interpretation of dysrhythmias Description: The Float Registered Nurse will have charge experience and ideally cardiac step-down experience, but this is not a requirement. The schedule is three 12-hour shifts from 07:00 to 19:30. The start is as soon as possible. Patient population can include anything from ER boarded patients to telemetry and med/surg patients. The role involves floating to fill the needs in the institution. The nurse-to-patient ratio varies from 1:4-6 depending on unit acuity. Experience must be in the US; Canadian experience will not qualify. Check with the manager before considering any 48-hour/week contracts. Some charge responsibilities may apply, specifically in two small units. In these units, the sole RN functions as the Charge Nurse, which includes managing staffing needs, bed flow, and general coordination. Charge nurse experience is a requirement. The facility is a short-term acute care hospital with a total of 325 staffed beds. Interdisciplinary support is provided by various teams, including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, and Rapid Response Teams. Patient age groups served include adults and geriatrics. Daily census varies, and the nurse will float between units to meet institutional needs. Travelers may be expected to float between facilities. Refusal to float may result in termination of the assignment. Communication devices necessary for duties will be provided by the client.
