Job Title: Float Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours (07:00 - 19:30) Experience: Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required, with charge experience preferred License: Valid state nursing license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Charge nurse experience Description: Seeking a Float Registered Nurse with experience in medical-surgical and telemetry nursing. The ideal candidate will have charge nurse experience and cardiac step-down experience, though it is not required. The role involves working three 12-hour shifts, from 07:00 to 19:30. The start date is as soon as possible. Patient populations can vary, including ER boarded patients, telemetry, medical-surgical, and more. The nursing team floats to fill the needs within the institution. Nurse-to-patient ratios will vary from 1:4 to 1:6, depending on unit acuity. The candidate must have experience in the U.S., as Canadian experience alone will not qualify. Charge responsibilities will apply only on two small units within the facility. Typically, these units are staffed with one or two RNs, supported by LPNs and CNAs. On these smaller units, the sole RN will function as the Charge Nurse. Charge duties include managing staffing needs, bed flow, and general coordination. The ability to float between different units is essential. Daily census and patient volume will vary. The role requires skills in cardiac telemetry and the interpretation of dysrhythmias. Isolation precautions and personal protective equipment knowledge are necessary. Candidates must be flexible and able to adapt to varied patient needs across multiple units. The candidate will play a critical role in ensuring quality patient care. References covering previous experience will be required prior to start.
