Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Tele RN for a 12-hour night shift contract requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • 24-bed Med/Surg-Tele unit within a Level 3 Trauma, Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center hospital
  • Fast-paced observation unit treating cardiac, respiratory, neuro and various other diagnoses
  • RN to patient ratio of 1:5-6 (up to 1:7-8 during surge staffing), CNA ratio 1:12
  • 12-hour night shift schedule, 36 hours per week, shift starts at 6:45pm (0645-1915 days, 1845-0715 nights)
  • Weekend rotation every other weekend on a 6-week schedule cycle
  • Possible low census call, with call-back up to 3a for nights and up to 3p for days
  • Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division - CMC Main, Mercy, LCH) as needed within scope of practice
  • Support staff includes CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, 24/7 RT, hospitalist (onsite days, virtual evenings/overnight), 24/7 intensivist, and remote telemetry monitoring with tele tech
  • Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Massimo monitors in all rooms

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
  • At least 6 months of EPIC EMR experience required
  • Core Med/Tele skillset required, including cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drip management (Cardizem/Amiodarone), tube/drain care, IV starts, blood product administration, and wound care/dressing changes
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required for consideration
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide direct nursing care for a fast-paced Med/Surg-Tele patient population
  • 2-day departmental orientation in addition to standard new employee orientation (NEO)
  • Travelers expected to work 75% of holidays
  • Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the assignment
  • Navy scrub color required
  • Free parking available onsite
