Description

American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience and NIHSS certification on a night shift, level 3 trauma unit.

Details

  • 32-bed Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit within a level 3 trauma, certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center facility
  • Cares for patients with stroke, respiratory illness (Flu/Pneumonia/COVID), renal failure, peritoneal dialysis, and wound care needs
  • RN patient ratio of 1:5-6, with surge staffing ratios up to 1:7-8
  • 12hr Night Shift schedule (1900-0700) at 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division - CMC Main, Mercy, LCH) as needed and within scope of practice
  • Uses Epic EMR, IV pumps, automated med dispensing, and cardiac monitors
  • Unit utilizes virtual nursing technology (VNO) with 10 cameras for medication witnessing, patient monitoring, and admission/discharge support
  • Supported by CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage, plus telemetry monitoring techs

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
  • Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

  • Provide direct Med/Surg Telemetry nursing care including cardiac monitoring and management of complex medical-surgical conditions
  • 2-day departmental orientation in addition to NEO
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the home unit to qualify for the travel position
  • Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
  • Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with any shortfall added to the end of the contract
  • Navy scrub color required
  • Free parking available on-site

  • Previous perm employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year before being eligible to return
