Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Tele RN for a night shift contract requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and a NC or compact RN license.

Details

• 32-bed Medical/Surgical-Telemetry unit within a Level 3 Trauma, Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center hospital
• Patient population includes stroke, respiratory illness (flu/pneumonia/COVID), renal failure, peritoneal dialysis, and wound care cases
• RN patient ratio of 1:5-6, with surge staffing up to 1:7-8
• LPN ratio of 1:5-6, with surge staffing up to 1:7-8, and CNA ratio of 1:10
• 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700), 36 hours per week
• Schedule cycles every 6 weeks with every other weekend rotation
• Support staff includes CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage 24/7
• Telemetry monitoring/tech support available on the unit
• Uses Epic EMR, IV pumps, med dispensing systems, and cardiac monitors
• Unit utilizes virtual nursing technology (VNO) with 10 cameras for medication witnessing, monitoring, and admission/discharge assistance
• Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mountain, Lincoln, and Central Division facilities including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed within scope of practice
• Possibility of low census call-back, up to 3am for night shift and up to 3pm for day shift

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg-Tele RN experience required
• Core competencies include cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management
• Epic EMR experience required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• At least one professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

• Provide direct patient care on a busy Med/Surg-Tele unit within a collaborative, patient-centered team environment
• Navy scrub color required

• Must work 75% of designated holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be made up by extending the contract
• Manager conducts final clinical interview before placement
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
• Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least one year after working a permanent position before being eligible to return
