Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position at a Level 3 Trauma teaching facility requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience.

Details

  • 32-bed Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit with an average daily census of 32 patients
  • Patient population includes stroke, respiratory illness (flu/pneumonia/COVID), renal failure, peritoneal dialysis, and wound care cases
  • RN to patient ratio of 1:5-6, with surge staffing ratios up to 1:7-8
  • 12-hour night shifts, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • Low census call possible, with call-back up to 3a for nights and 3p for days
  • Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed within scope of practice
  • Unit uses Epic EMR, IV pumps, med dispensing systems, cardiac monitors, and virtual nursing technology (VNO) with 10 cameras
  • Support staff includes CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience required
  • Level 3 Trauma facility experience preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Core Med/Tele skills required, including cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drip management (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care on a fast-paced, patient-centered Med/Surg Telemetry unit with a supportive team culture
  • 2-day departmental orientation provided in addition to New Employee Orientation (NEO)
  • Travelers must work 75% of holidays
  • Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the assignment
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for the position
  • Free parking provided on-site
  • Navy scrub color required
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
