Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital requiring 2 years of Med/Tele RN experience and GA or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • 30-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit with a Level 1 Trauma, teaching hospital, Chest Pain Center, and Stroke Center
  • Cares for post/pre cardiac and step-down ICU patients with diagnoses including CHF, COPD, STEMI, NSTEMI, and sepsis
  • RN to patient ratio of 1:4-6 with 2-3 CNAs per shift
  • 12-hour day or night shifts (7a-7p or 7p-7a) on a 6-week rotating schedule
  • Weekend rotation of 5-6 shifts out of every 12
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floats to all Med/Surg Telemetry units within the facility
  • Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
  • Utilizes unit-specific equipment including VS3 vital sign monitors, Nova Glucose Stat Strips, and PCA pain management pumps
  • Supported by unit secretaries, charge nurses, resource/discharge nurses, PICC team, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
  • Central Telemetry Unit monitors cardiac rhythms

Requirements

  • Active RN license (GA or Compact) required
  • BLS and Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR) certification required, including an EKG rhythm exam during onboarding
  • ACLS and Medical-Surgical national certification preferred but not required
  • Minimum 2 years of Med/Tele RN experience required
  • Experience in trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucommander, insulin drips, heparin drips, and heart rate titration drips
  • Strong clinical assessment skills suited for a Level 1 Trauma hospital setting
  • Skilled in IV insertion, central line management, wound care, and post-op monitoring
  • Experience in cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
  • At least 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

  • Facility orientation includes 1 day of educational modules plus 2 days of departmental orientation

  • Navy scrubs required for RNs

  • Holiday coverage required for approximately 75% of major holidays, including Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
  • RTO requests subject to manager approval

  • Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
