Start Date: October 26, 2026

Location: Wilmington, North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Night shift, 36 or 48 hours per week with 1:5-6 patient ratios. Contract length of 13-26 weeks available. Weekend requirement of 12-16 shifts per contract (flexible and open to discussion).

Highlights:

  • Neurosurgical unit specializing in neuro surgical procedures and neurological diagnoses
  • Patient ratios of 1:5-6 with a 36-bed unit census
  • Epic EMR system with Pyxis medication management and SBAR communication
  • Two orientation shifts on the unit following hospital-based orientation
  • Floating within facility required; blocked scheduling may be accommodated upon request
  • Interdisciplinary team support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and more

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
  • Active North Carolina or Compact state RN license
  • BCLS certification required; NIHSS preferred
  • ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS certifications preferred
  • Epic charting system experience preferred
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
  • Neurosurgical or neuro experience strongly preferred
  • Skills required: CVA care, heparin and insulin administration, IV insulin protocols, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry, pre/post neurosurgery care, IV starts and maintenance, wound care, and isolation precautions
  • Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)

Additional Information:

  • Contract staff will be assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters
  • Unit consolidation to centralized office may occur mid-contract with pre-assignment to units as needed
  • Up to 7 days of time off may be accommodated (no holidays); must work 2 of 3 major holidays
  • Pre-start online modules (approximately 8-10 hours) must be completed using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge
  • All compliance testing must be completed within 48 hours after signing
