Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in a Medical Surgical unit. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibilities

• Care for adult and geriatric patients with general medical/surgical needs.
• Perform special procedures such as heparin drips, wound vac dressing changes, and high flow oxygen administration.
• Provide respiratory support with limited short-term BiPap as appropriate.
• Utilize EPIC for documentation and medication management.
• Participate in team meetings scheduled monthly, with additional meetings as necessary for night staff.
• Respond to call requirements as needed.
• Assist patients with COVID-related care as required.
• Work as part of the Inclement Weather Team and be available for emergency staffing needs during disasters or mass casualty events.

Work Schedule

• Shifts: 12-hour nights from 18:45 to 07:15.
• Block schedules are not available; flexibility is required.
• Must be available to work holidays and every other weekend.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience is required.
• Candidates with previous travel nursing experience will be considered.
• EPIC experience is required.
• Certifications: BCLS is mandatory; CPI and charge nurse experience is preferred.
• EKG testing must be passed prior to starting in this specialty.

Patient Care Environment

This unit primarily cares for adults and geriatrics, with an average daily census of approximately 43 patients. High patient-to-nurse ratios are expected, managing approximately 1 nurse to 6 patients at any given time.

Orientation and Training

• A unit orientation of 24 hours will be provided.
• Scrubs are not provided; navy scrubs are required.

Special Notes

All staff are expected to adhere to unit protocols and participate in required training involving storm team preparations. Flexibility, teamwork, and dedication to patient care are essential for success in this role.
