Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Surgical - Neuro

Job Details

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse specializing in Medical Surgical - Neuro for a challenging role focused on neuro surgical procedures and neuro diagnoses. The position is for night shifts, with the potential for 36 or 48 hours per week. If working 48 hours, overtime will not be billed until after the 48-hour mark.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6.
• Participate in a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team, with a willingness to report to work during catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters.
• Provide care for patients undergoing neuro surgical procedures and those with neuro diagnoses.
• Float to other units as required.
• Work on weekends, with an expectation of 12-16 weekend shifts per contract, with flexibility on scheduling.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, with preferred experience in a neuro setting.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification is required.
• National Institutes of Health (NIH) certification is preferred.
• Must pass EKG testing prior to starting the position.
• Completion of orientation shifts on the unit after hospital-based orientation.

Unit Information

This role is located on the 4th floor of the Neurosurgical/Medical unit. The unit utilizes the following systems for medication, documentation, and communication:

• Pyxis
• SBAR
• EPIC

Shift Details

The position is for night shifts (18:45 - 07:15) with potential for 3x12-hour shifts. Block scheduling may be accommodated depending on requests during the submission process. Candidates should note that there is a maximum of 7 days for requested time off (RTO); no additional time off is permitted.

Scrubs should be navy in color.
