Contract | Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | 12-Hour Shifts | 36 Hours per Week | Self-Scheduling Available
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 64-bed flex intermediate and general care unit with a 1:4 RN-to-patient ratio, serving a primary cardiac medicine and cardiovascular subspecialty population
- Manage patients presenting with NSTEMI, acute coronary syndrome, chest pain, congestive heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias, and post-cardiac catheterization with or without intervention
- Administer and titrate cardiac drips; perform and interpret cardiac rhythm strips and EKG monitoring as part of ongoing patient assessment
- Support bedside procedures including cardioversions and transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE), and assist with management of pacemakers and implantable cardiac defibrillators (ICDs)
- Collaborate with nursing assistants and the broader medical team to facilitate continuity of care, including ICU transitions for optimization of clinical outcomes
- Provide overflow care for general medicine patients including those with diabetes, hypertension, pneumonia, sepsis, and GI bleeds
Required Qualifications
- Active North Carolina RN license or valid Compact RN license
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- NIHSS certification required
- Must pass an EKG exam prior to start as part of the credentialing process
- Strong cardiac skills with demonstrated ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records
- Must reside at least 80 miles from the facility to be eligible for this travel contract
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in a PCU, IMC, stepdown, or cardiac care setting
- Experience managing cardiac drips and titration in an intermediate or progressive care environment
- Familiarity with LVAD management and high-risk cardiac obstetric patients
- Experience with pre- and post-cardiac surgery patient populations
