    Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU / IMC / Stepdown)

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract | Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | 12-Hour Shifts | 36 Hours per Week | 6 Weekend Shifts per 6-Week Schedule

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide direct nursing care to a cardiac medicine and cardiovascular subspecialty population including patients with NSTEMI, acute coronary syndrome, congestive heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias, and post-cardiac cath with or without intervention
    • Monitor and manage patients on multiple cardiac drips, including titration, and perform frequent cardiac assessments for intermediate care status patients
    • Read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips and EKG findings as part of ongoing patient monitoring and care
    • Care for patients undergoing or recovering from bedside procedures such as cardioversions, transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE), pacemaker management, and implantable cardiac defibrillator (ICD) management
    • Collaborate with nursing assistants, charge nurses, and the broader medical team to deliver patient-centered care; facilitate ICU transitions as needed to optimize clinical outcomes
    • Manage overflow medicine patients presenting with conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, pneumonia, sepsis, and GI bleeds
    Required Qualifications
    • Active RN license (Compact license accepted)
    • BLS certification – American Heart Association (AHA)
    • ACLS certification – American Heart Association (AHA)
    • Minimum 2 years of RN experience
    • Strong cardiac skills including ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips
    • Must pass an EKG exam prior to start as part of credentialing
    • NIHSS certification required
    • Must live at least 80 miles from the facility to be eligible
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Experience caring for patients with LVAD, high-risk cardiac OB, or post-cardiac arrest status
    • Familiarity with pre- and post-cardiac surgery patient management
    • Experience in a flex unit environment serving both intermediate and general care populations
    • Comfort with self-scheduling in a high-acuity cardiac setting
