Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU / Stepdown)

Contract | 13 Weeks | Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | 12-Hour Shifts | 36 Hours per Week
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 24-bed monitored flex unit serving intermediate and general acuity patients, with a primary focus on post-operative cardiac, thoracic, and vascular populations
- Manage arterial lines, central lines, peripheral and arterial lab draws, and various intravenous drips including cardiac, Lasix, insulin, heparin, and anti-hypertensive drips
- Perform and manage Dobhoff/NGT placement, J-tube, PEG, and chest tube management
- Assist with bedside procedures including TEE, cardioversions, chest tube placements, and thoracentesis
- Manage PCAs, epidurals, and pacemakers as part of routine patient care
- Operate within a self-scheduling model at a staffing ratio of 1:4 or 1:5 RN-to-patient
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (Compact license accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
- ACLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
- NIHSS certification required
- Strong cardiac experience required
- Proficiency in IV insertion and peripheral/arterial lab draws
- At least 1 professional reference covering entire work history required
- Must reside at least 80 miles from the facility to be eligible
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience caring for post-operative cardiac, thoracic, or vascular patients
- Experience managing epidurals, PCAs, and pacemakers in a monitored unit setting
- Familiarity with bedside procedural support including cardioversions and thoracentesis
