Job Requirements
- Active RN license in North Carolina or a compact state
- At least 1 year of recent PCU, telemetry, or cardiac nursing experience required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
- Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips
- Must pass an EKG exam prior to start
- Strong cardiac assessment skills and familiarity with drip titration
- Experience with EPIC preferred
- Must meet the 80-mile local radius rule
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care for intermediate-care and cardiac patients in a Progressive Care Unit
- Monitor and assess patients with conditions such as NSTEMI, acute coronary syndrome, heart failure, arrhythmias, and post-cath recovery
- Care for patients requiring cardiac drips, medication titration, and frequent clinical reassessments
- Support patients undergoing bedside procedures such as cardioversions and transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE)
- Manage overflow medical patients with diagnoses including diabetes, hypertension, pneumonia, sepsis, and GI bleeding
- Collaborate with the charge nurse, nursing assistants, and interdisciplinary care team to support safe patient outcomes
- Deliver compassionate, attentive care in a fast-paced cardiac medicine environment
