Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse – Travel Nursing Contract in Hagerstown, Maryland

Experienced Travel Registered Nurse needed for a 13-week Cardiac Stepdown, Telemetry, and IMC contract in Hagerstown, Maryland. Join a high-acuity float pool caring for adult and geriatric patients across Med/Surg, Telemetry, IMC, and other specialty units. This travel nursing assignment is ideal for an experienced RN who is confident managing complex cardiac, respiratory, neurological, renal, and post-surgical patients while adapting to multiple hospital environments. Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license or eligibility to practice in Maryland
• At least 2 years of recent hospital-based Telemetry nursing experience
• At least 2 years of prior IMC, PCU, or Cardiac Stepdown experience; this experience is required
• Recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Recent Epic electronic health record experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Demonstrated ability to safely manage 1:4–1:6 patient ratios and float between Med/Surg and IMC settings
• Experience with cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation, cardiac and vasoactive drips, insulin protocols, post-MI care, and post-cardiac catheterization care
• Competency with tracheostomy and ventilator management, noninvasive ventilation, chest tubes, central lines, PICC lines, feeding tubes, blood products, TPN, drains, and cardiac monitoring
• Flu vaccination and required tuberculosis screening documentation
• COVID-19 vaccination documentation required for this assignment

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in Cardiac Stepdown, IMC, Telemetry, Med/Surg, and other assigned units
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and recognize changes requiring rapid clinical intervention
• Care for patients experiencing acute respiratory distress, septic shock, hypertensive crisis, congestive heart failure, myocardial infarction, unstable angina, DKA, stroke, trauma, and post-surgical complications
• Manage cardiac drips, non-titrated vasoactive medications, insulin drips, anticoagulation protocols, and other high-acuity therapies within scope of practice
• Deliver post-cardiac catheterization and post-cardiac surgery care, including TR Band management
• Provide tracheostomy, ventilator, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow oxygen, chest tube, drain, and airway management
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, administer medications, manage lines and tubes, and document care accurately in Epic
• Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, rapid response teams, IV services, rehabilitation, radiology, and other interdisciplinary partners
• Float across assigned units while maintaining safe, organized, and patient-centered care
• Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and activate appropriate emergency and rapid response resources
