Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nursing Contract in Hagerstown, MD

Position Overview: Join a collaborative Float Pool team as a Cardiac Stepdown Travel Registered Nurse in Hagerstown, Maryland. This 13-week travel nursing assignment supports Med/Surg Telemetry and Intermediate Care (IMC) units and is ideal for an experienced RN who is confident caring for high-acuity adult and geriatric patients across medical-surgical, telemetry, and stepdown specialties. Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,950–$2,060
• Location: Hagerstown, Maryland
• Assignment Type: 13-week travel nurse contract
• Start Date: October 12, 2026
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts, 6:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
• Unit: Med/Surg Telemetry and IMC Float Pool
• Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
• Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:4–1:6
• Scheduling: Self-scheduling model based on unit needs
• Weekend and Holiday Coverage: Weekend shifts and some holidays are expected; approximately 12 weekend shifts during the contract
• Orientation: 16 hours

Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Maryland
• At least 2 years of recent hospital-based Telemetry or Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience
• At least 2 years of prior hospital-based IMC, PCU, Cardiac Stepdown, or Intermediate Care experience
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Recent Epic electronic health record experience required and must be clearly documented
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Flu vaccination, COVID-19 vaccination, and a two-step PPD are required
• Comfort floating throughout Med/Surg and IMC specialties, including observation, trauma surgery, joint, stroke, palliative, renal, inpatient emergency, women's, bariatric surgery, and post-ICU units
• Strong cardiac rhythm interpretation, telemetry monitoring, and high-acuity patient care skills

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients in Cardiac Stepdown, IMC, and Med/Surg Telemetry settings
• Float safely and effectively across assigned medical-surgical and intermediate care units according to clinical experience and unit needs
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and recognize changes requiring timely intervention
• Care for patients experiencing acute respiratory distress, septic shock, hypertensive crisis, severe congestive heart failure, myocardial infarction, unstable angina, DKA, trauma, and other complex medical-surgical conditions
• Manage patients receiving cardiac and insulin drips, including ordered monitoring and titration responsibilities
• Provide post-cardiac catheterization and post-MI care, including TR Band management
• Care for patients with ventilators, tracheostomies, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow oxygen, chest tubes, drains, feeding tubes, PICC lines, midlines, and central lines
• Administer blood products, TPN, thrombolytic therapies, and other prescribed treatments while maintaining patient safety
• Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, physical therapy, IV teams, rapid response teams, social services, and other interdisciplinary partners
• Recognize patient deterioration, initiate appropriate interventions, and participate in rapid response and code procedures
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes accurately in Epic
