Description

American Traveler is hiring a Level III/IV NICU RN for a night shift assignment requiring OH or compact RN license and extensive floating capability across multiple campuses.

Details

  • Work in the Neonatal ICU (NICU) of a hospital setting
  • 13-week assignment on night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
  • Care for neonates across gestational age ranges: <24-28 weeks, 29-34 weeks, and >34 weeks
  • Float to BPD (bronchopulmonary dysplasia) NICU with average length of stay of 2-3 years, requiring comfort with frequent trach care and heavy parent involvement
  • Float requirement to PICU, CV PICU, stepdown, MS, and rarely ED
  • Float requirement to other campuses including Riverside, St. Ann's, Grant Medical, Dublin Methodist, and Doctors Hospital
  • Epic charting system experience required

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications required; PALS preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of Level IV NICU experience required
  • Minimum 2 years total Level III/IV NICU experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, UAC/UVC management, and neonatal dosage calculations
  • Experience with ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP), high frequency ventilation, and oscillators required
  • Experience attending high-risk deliveries required
  • Experience with neonatal sepsis, NEC, and respiratory distress syndrome required
  • Experience with therapeutic hypothermia (cooling blanket) and ECMO preferred
  • Two professional references required at time of consideration, at least one from a manager or supervisor (charge references not accepted)

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive NICU nursing care including high-risk delivery attendance, respiratory management, and neurologic monitoring
  • Position involves a two-part interview process, including an initial screening with the Float Pool Leader followed by a possible second interview with the NICU unit manager
  • Floating to different units and campuses is a significant and consistent expectation for this role
  • Must reside outside a 60-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted for this position
  • Candidates cannot have worked in a permanent role at this health system within the past 2 years
  • Reliable attendance is essential, as no call/no shows are treated as a serious policy violation
  • First-time travelers are not preferred for this role given the experience requirements
