Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring 2 years of Neuro ICU experience and NIHSS certification.

Details

  • Work in a Neuro Intensive Care Unit setting
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30) with weekend requirements
  • Weekend shifts consist of Friday and Saturday nights on a rotation every 4 weeks
  • Estimated patient ratio of 1:1-2
  • Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
  • Uses Epic EHR system

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA certifications only)
  • Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience required
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Skills required include IV starts, telemetry, ventilator management, and intracranial pressure monitoring
  • Additional clinical skills include arterial line management, central/PICC line care, CVA/acute stroke management, EVD and ICP monitoring, post-craniotomy and post-neurosurgery care, and traumatic brain and spinal cord injury management
  • Experience with cardiac drip titration, continuous IV sedation, and dysrhythmia interpretation and management preferred
  • Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will be screened
  • 2 professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor and the second from a Charge RN; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to complex neurological and neurosurgical patients
  • Locals accepted at the same rate
  • Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6 months away from the facility
  • Current employees are ineligible for travel assignments at this health system
  • RTO must be submitted with the contract and limited to 7 days or less
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing the contract due to strict credentialing timelines
